Celebrating Pontiacs 100th Anniversary This Weekend at the Indian Uprising, and of course...at the MCACN Show
By now you probably know that the big "Red Carpet" special display this year at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals will be commemorating the 100th Anniversary of Pontiac. Yes...it is hard to believe that it was way back in 1926 when the first automobile bearing the Pontiac nameplate came to exist. And of course, that was the beginning for a brand that so many of us love and cherish, especially when it comes to American Muscle. Was the GTO the "first" Muscle Car? Well that is one that some may debate, but there is no doubt that when John Delorean created the GTO, in a somewhat controversial way when it came to General Motors policy at the time, he created an entirely new market for what we all will agree is a Pinnacle Muscle Machine.
So plan on seeing what may be the most impressive Pontiac timeline display, coordinated by Jim Mattison and friends, that includes not only those prime Muscle Machines, but some truly historic cars that made Pontiac a brand that...well, we wish we still had! Of course you will see a variety of GTO's, Trans Ams and Firebirds and some of the finest Super Duty's, but also many of the other cars that made a bold statement, when we return to the beautiful Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, (SUBURBAN Chicago), Illinois, November 21-22. This will be another MCACN display for the record books!
So to keep the momentum going for this year-long celebration of Poncho Power, we will be heading to the 35th Indian Uprising all Pontiac show in Crystal Lake, Illinois this weekend, August 7-8, Hosted by the Cruisin' Tigers. With literally hundreds of cool Pontiacs from every era, this is one you don't want to miss. And to make it even better, they have a swap meet, a detailing seminar, live music Saturday night, great food and more. Special Feature cars this year are the 1966 GTO, all Firebirds and the '84-'88 Fieros. The Cruisin' Tigers have been longtime supporters of what we do at MCACN and again this year, they will be joining us with a display near the 100th Anniversary Invitational. We appreciate their passion and enthusiasm and we can't wait to get out there! We will have a display (look for our big red MCACN logo'd EZ-Up) and this weeks specials include a limited amount of our MCACN Exclusive Johnny Lightning 1964 GTO Royal Bobcat 1/64th scale diecast Official Event cars for just $10.00 each and also a super special on MCACN past event T-shirts for $15.00 each or 2/$25.00. Get 'em while they last because when they're gone they are gone! (BTW; we do have some XL's, 2XL's and 3Xl's along with some Ladies shirts)
The Indian Uprising will take place at the Crystal Lake Holiday Inn and Conference Center.
