STOCK MUSCLE RETURNS TO STANTON, MICHIGAN...
Last year at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show we played host to our first gathering of Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race cars. To say it was a hit is a major understatement! Coordinated by PSMCDR racers Donny Brass and Rusty “Tires” Small, it was one of the most active (and interactive) displays in the show. First off, spectators were amazed to see that these cars, all show stoppers, were actually used for what they were originally built to do, which is run! My first request to the guys and ladies that participated was to leave all rubber residue on the quarters, (which they did!) to prove that these show quality and rare Muscle Machines really are raced...and raced hard! Along with the cars, they had video on display to prove it.
Next week, September 11-12, the Pure Stock Racers return to the Mid Michigan Motorplex in Stanton, Michigan. This cool track has a certain nostalgic feel, which lends itself perfectly to this event. And what makes it even cooler is that it is like taking a step back in time. No hiding what’s under the hood, no “secret” tuning, just a bunch of great people sharing tips, tools and techniques to get the most out of their prime muscle machines and Corvettes!
Although they have strict rules as to what can be run, they all concentrate on one thing, and that is having a whole lot of FUN. For all the details along with a map to the track, check out http://www.purestockdrags.com/2013/11/event-information-for-2014-pure-stock.html and also be sure to check out their facebook page.
And speaking of fun...that is exactly what they plan do again at the MCACN show, November 22-23. Donny and Rusty have worked hard all year to put together another stellar group of prime muscle with an entirely new group of cars. Of course, you’ll find a very wide and diversified variety on display, including a ‘66 L79 Chevy II, a ‘70 Cobra Jet Torino, a lift-off hood 69.5 Roadrunner, a ‘70 Z/28, a ‘68 Hurst/Olds, a ‘73 340 Duster, a ‘69 SC/Rambler and get this...it gets even better; you’ll see a supercharged ‘63 Studebaker Lark which is owned and raced by legendary drag racer and all around great guy Ted Harbit.
Now if this alone isn’t worth making the trip to Rosemont for our show, than you are reading the wrong e-mail! This is all about having a blast and showing our cars, sharing the passion and tricks and tips and most importantly, keeping it fun. Hope to see you in Stanton next week and make it a point to check out the cars and meet the awesome people that are having a blast with the Pure Stock Drag Race, and of course, at our show!
This was a big week for Vicki and I, as we watched our Granddaughter Emily start kindergarten. As many of you know, Em is my “little buddy” who shares my passion for things on wheels and is also my water skiing buddy. I know many of you also sent your kids or Grandkids back to school, so here is to wishing you all the best for a great year!
And over in Dallas, our Title Sponsor, The Mecum Auction Company, is hosting another auction filled with prime Muscle and More. The auction kicked of Thursday and over 1,000 cars will be crossing the block, along with some prime Road Art and more. And remember, if you can’t make it to the auction, sign up for their free infonet for up to date results and access to real-time action!
There are some great events coming up between now and our show in November, including the big Mid America Corvette Funfest in Effingham, Illinois and the Muscle Car Adventures tour up in the Wisconsin Dells the weekend after next. As our season winds down, make sure you take part in as many of these events as you can!
The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals is the world’s largest all indoor specialty show devoted to Muscle Cars, Dealer-built Supercars and the finest Corvettes. We will again fill nearly 400,000 square feet of indoor exhibit space at the beautiful Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, (greater Chicago), Illinois.
You will see over 550 cars, 200+ all automotive vendor spots, as many as 50 vintage Muscle Bicycles and much more.
We also pride ourselves in having a wide variety of FREE activities for the kids, including a scavenger hunt with awesome prizes, the Revell Models “make and take” and new this year, Hot Wheels races. KIDS UNDER 12 ALWAYS GET IN FREE with an adult, and ALL OF THE KIDS ACTIVITIES ARE FREE! We want to make this a fun must do event for all of the family, so please bring ‘em all along!
Another cool thing about our show is that we are located right in the center of the Rosemont Entertainment District and are just a few blocks away from the all new 150 store Outlet Center. So...bring the whole family, even if they aren’t car freaks like us!
Entries are now being accepted for cars and automotive related vendors. Several of our car classes are already full, as we limit similar vehicles and later model cars to assure a well balanced show for our spectators. If you are hoping to join us, please apply now! Special rates and easy booking at our four host hotels can be found here. So book your rooms now to be right in the middle of all the action.
Gearing up for our biggest and best show ever!
