At the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals, we have judging and awards for a wide variety of cars and participants. But for some, we know that getting a car judged may not be the way to go to have the most fun. That is why in addition to our many Judged classes, we offer what we call Non Comp/Pick Eligible entries. When you enter our show this way, we forgo all of the usual judging, but your car is still eligible for a wide variety of special “Pick” awards and more. Among these awards are Shining Star awards for our Under 25 year old participants, Sponsored by ProArc, and also our Leading Lady awards for cars owned and maintained by women, sponsored by MK Insurance.
Additional special picks are chosen by the Carlisle Events team and the Phoenix Graphix crew along with a long list of even more Sponsor pick awards, our celebrities, magazine editors, select staff members, club members and of course, the coveted Eye Candy Award, presented by our 2014 Featured Artist, David Snyder. That makes for a whole lot of chances to score some recognition and take home some iron, even if you don’t have your car judged!
Today we would like to introduce a brand new award from a good friend and new Sponsor. I met Alan Mayes, Managing Editor of Old Skool Rodz and Car Kulture Deluxe magazines years ago when he was first starting Ol Skool Rodz magazine with Publisher Gino Dipol. Since I was in the process of launching something special in Detroit that was directly related, we instantly hit it off.
Soon after, Alan launched a second magazine, Car Kulture Deluxe, with an emphasis on cool customs including some of the baddest straight axles and gassers you’ll ever see. Alan has been watching what we do and he also has been working with our MCACN Official Photographer, Al Rogers. It just so happens that Alan also shares my passion for old bikes, and we ran into each other at the recent Ann Arbor, Michigan bicycle show. Well...one thing led to another and before the end of the day, Alan decided he was overdue to join us.
So, for 2014 we are proud to announce the Rodz Deluxe Award for Best Gasser, to be presented to an outstanding entrant and chosen by Alan Mayes himself. But wait, it gets better! For 2015, Ol Skool Rodz and Car Kulture Deluxe will be sponsoring a new Gasser display at MCACN. You know the story...we aren’t going to let our show get boring! Special Thanks go out to Alan and the crew for joining us, not only this year, but for many years to come!
And speaking of old friends, I am pleased to announce our good friend and our Official Master of Ceremonies Dennis Pittsenbarger will be returning to MCACN this year to again help us keep things lively in the way only Dennis can do. But the big news is that Dennis is about to launch one of the biggest deals of his very interesting career. This Monday, September 1st, tune in to The Discovery Channel to see Highway To Sell. Dennis is the host of this brand new show, and it looks like it is going to be a whole lot of fun! Here is what they say about the show; Across America, neglected classic cars are waiting to be restored and make their way back onto the street. Enter Dennis Pittsenbarger and "Slick."
years, automotive expert Pittsenbarger has made a name for himself in the
car world. A walking encyclopedia of automotive history and design,
Pittsenbarger is a long-time race car driver with a working knowledge of
nearly every car make and model ever made. His partner in chrome,
mechanical mastermind Slick, has retooled hundreds of cars in his 12,000
square ft. Florida shop, and created period-perfect movie cars for
Hollywood Films. Now doesn’t that sound like fun? Be sure to tune in
Monday night at 10 pm EST to see the
premiere episode. Congrats go out to Dennis, who has worked long and hard
to get to this point. - To learn all about the show, click here;
