Sneak Peek 2013 Show*
Nickey Super Camaro Convertible # 10
See it in the Nickey Display Nov 23 & 24
A few weeks ago, I paid a visit to MCACN Sponsor Nickey out in St. Charles, Illinois to see what was up. In addition to 16,000 square feet packed with a variety of Gen 5 Camaro’s in various states of upgrading, (including several ZL1’s), I saw some very notable 67-69 Camaro’s, a Buick, some big body Muscle, a sharp red ‘74 Super Duty Trans Am, a Gasser or two, several Corvettes and even a sweet Mopar. I am never disappointed when I take a walk through the shop! But the big news is something they recently added to keep them a step ahead of the competition.
“The vast majority of the work we perform, Dyno or otherwise is with Camaros of all Generations,” stated Nickey CEO Stefano Bimbi. “We strive to be the leaders, not the followers, so we have added a state of the art DynoJet 224XLC. This offers our customers the absolute best and most efficient way to get the maximum performance out of their car, whether it is a new Camaro or a vintage Muscle Car” he said. In addition to the new DynoJet, Nickey has Corey Clayton on board as a full time Tuner/Master Tech. Corey, who is the son of legendary Drag Racer Jerry Clayton of Keeling & Clayton California Charger fame, has spent most of his life around cars with a passion for squeezing out every last bit of torque and horsepower for his clients. “Working with the new DynoJet is a real thrill,” Clayton said. “This allows me to hone in on every area to find the most efficient ways to gain power. It really is state of the art,” he said.
The new DynoJet is not just for modern muscle either. This Model 224XLC can perform load tests including step, sweep and loaded roll-on. Closed loop load testing is also available by targeting engine RPM, speed or percentage of load. A simple click of the mouse or keyboard can turn the 224XLC from an eddy current dynamometer back into an inertia only dynamometer or vice versa. Appointments are now being accepted for onsite tuning at Nickey Headquarters, so give them a call at 630-377-1222 and see what Corey and the crew can do for you! Speaking of Nickey, they have big plans for the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show that is coming up November 23-24 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, (greater Chicago), Illinois. Stefano just finished coordinating a very special Muscle Car Review magazine cover shoot with our good friend Arvid Svendsen featuring three very significant Yenko Muscle Cars that you will see in the special MCR Cover Cars display at our show. These cars will be right across from the Nickey display and of course, on the cover of an upcoming issue of Muscle Car Review magazine with a full feature inside. Thanks MCR! In the Nickey display, we understand you will once again be able to see some vintage Nickey muscle, with a recently restored example of what is believed to be the very last fully converted Nickey Camaro, (a 1974 model with a 427 under the hood!) along with one of their latest creations that is coming in with the new owner, Brian Henderson (our sneak peek car). Whew...these guys know how to keep things exciting!
