CHICAGOLAND MOPAR HAPPENING SHOW AND SWAP + CORVETTE HOMECOMING THIS WEEKEND!
Last week I talked about how great it is to have so many cool shows and cruises happening this summer. After being buried in snow and cold for months where I live, it is really nice to get out there and enjoy some fun and fellowship with like minded car freaks! So this weekend, we have a couple of great events that are on the top of my “must do” lists.
We will be heading to Belvidere, Illinois for the big Chicagoland Mopar Connection Happening show and swap, put on by a great group of MCACN participants and supporters, The Chicagoland Mopar Connection. It seems like this one gets better every year and always draws several hundred cars and a nice sized swap meet. They also have a cool cruise at one of the local dealers! Last year we found several great cars that joined us at the MCACN show and we also met one of our Mopar Collectors Guide cover girls. I am still looking for Petty/Basin Street Blue cars for our Wellborn Muscle Car Museum/G&L Guitars “Color My World” Invitational display, along with 64’s and 69’s for those Anniversary displays and as always, any other cool cars for the show.
We will be in the center building with a display to talk about the upcoming MCACN show, which will be Saturday, November 22 from 9 am – 9 pm and Sunday, November 23 from 9 am–5 pm. And if you would like to enter our MCACN Cover Girl contest...let us know! And speaking of covers...the new issue of Mopar Collectors Guide also has one of our cover girls. Al Rogers does an amazing job, and he will be back at it, shooting no less than SIX covers this year!
Over in Bowling Green, Kentucky, our good friends and long time MCACN supporters Joe and Vera Pruitt are geared up and ready to host their best and biggest Corvette Homecoming ever.
They have some new things this year including their Ultra Original plus 4 divisions of Corvette categories for the show, and the prestigious Sans Pareil, (English translation-Unmatched or Unparalleled) which is led by another good friend and MCACN supporter, John Ballard. With John’s vast knowledge and commitment, you know this is one worth checking out! Special Guest Grand Marshall this year is Kevin Mackay, and Joe and Vera have activities for the whole family, (including some great Ladies activities) and a good sized swap meet too. And if that isn’t enough reason to get you there, they are just minutes from the Corvette Museum, which will be open for tours. Speaking of Corvettes--
MCACN MAGAZINE UPDATE; Between shows, I am writing our all new (and FREE) 64 page all color MCACN magazine. Filled with cars and show features, you can get yours FREE by signing on to our mailing list here or check it online when we post it in October. We have limited ad space available starting at just $100, and the print run is 30,000 issues. That is more than many national magazines! As mentioned, the full magazine will also be online, so you can get a whole lot of bang for your advertising buck. To reserve your ad space now, e-mail me at firstname.lastname@example.org And remember, if you have not officially registered, your car won’t be in there as we use only cars and owners that have made the commitment to join us in November, so apply now online, or see us at one of the upcoming shows we will be attending.
We are accepting applications for cars and vendors now through our website or in person at the shows we are attending. Next week we will have a display at the Concours d’Elegance of America (formerly Meadowbrook Concours) in the Detroit area. I am a member of the Vehicle Selection Committee for the Concours, and I put together FOUR different categories this year. Of course, one is American Muscle, featuring a group of twelve Aero Cars, and Yes...you’ll see many MCACN alumnus in there! Another group I assembled is for American Postwar 1960-1970 cars, and it features ALL convertibles, most with a performance twist. Yep...you will see more of our MCACN friends there too and also in our GTO and Mustang 50th Anniversary displays! Check out www.concoursusa.org for more information.
Well...another great weekend for us car folks. Hope you can get out there and enjoy the cars and the people. Next week we will introduce you to our 2014 MCACN Magazine cover girl, Addy S. You see...we will be working with photographer extraordinaire Al Rogers/Freeze Frame Image, LLC to again capture the images of not just one, but TWO incredible cars that will be gracing our cover and official poster next week, along with Addy! Boy...I love my job, and it is good to be me!
By the way...that AAR Cuda pictured above...it is owned by the Chicagoland Mopar Connection President Roger Schmeling, who will be joining us for our “Color My World” Invitational display this year!
