RICK NELSON/MUSCLE CAR RESTORATION AND DESIGN
IS GEARING UP FOR A VERY INTERESTING DISPLAY!
Out in Pleasant Plains, Illinois, there is a small restoration shop that has been earning some well deserved recognition. MCACN sponsor Muscle Car Restoration and Design owner Rick Nelson checked in recently to tell us what he has in store for the MCACN show for 2012. Last year, Rick and his team unveiled the “Desert Rat,” A gleaming Grotto Blue 1968 Yenko 427 Super Camaro, owned by Dana Hurt, who came in all the way from his home in California to see this beautiful automobile unveiled for the very first time on Saturday, November 19, 2011. To say he was pleased is a major understatement!
For 2012, Rick has a bit of a dilemma; he has THREE rare muscle machines under construction in the shop now, and any one of them would be a fine addition to our show. After discussing various ways to “stand out from the crowd” and draw attention to his display, Rick has decided to show TWO of the three “in progress”, so that spectators and participants can get an inside view into what it really takes to create a show winning muscle car. With Rick’s track record, which includes national wins, multiple magazine features and covers and a reputation for being the go-to guy specializing in LS6 Chevelles, no matter which cars he decides to bring, we can be assured the display will be a show stopper.
And by the way, that ‘68 Yenko 427 Super Camaro? Dana has accepted our invitation to join our “Meet the Mean Ones in Chicago” Don Yenko Memorial display so that you can see this ultra rare dealer supercar up close and personal. With only a handful of real-deal documented ‘68 Yenko 427 Camaro’s in existence, this will indeed be a fine addition to a display that already numbers in excess of 40 Yenko Super Cars!
So the question is...which two cars in restoration would YOU like to see in the Muscle Car Restoration and Design display this year...the 1966 Chevelle SS L78, the 70 1/2 Camaro Z/28 or the 1970 Chevelle SS LS6?
