MICHAEL IRVINE NAMED FEATURED ARTIST FOR
2013 MUSCLE CAR AND CORVETTE NATIONALS SHOW
The MCACN show has truly become not only a national event, but a truly international event. Over the years, we have had participants and spectators join us from all across the U.S. and Canada, (including several participants from Quebec and another from Newfoundland last year!) and many who fly in to the conveniently located Chicago O’Hare Airport from as far away as Japan, England and even Kuwait. And why not? You can fly in, grab one of the host hotel shuttles and you never need to leave the Rosemont area. With the new Rosemont Entertainment District, Muvico Theater, Toby Keith’s “Love This Bar & Grill” and the brand new Outlet Mall (opening up in August) all within walking distance, there is something for everyone in the family, even if they don’t like cars. With that being said, we would like to introduce our 2013 Featured Artist and MCACN Sponsor Michael Irvine, who hails from St. Catherines, Ontario, Canada.
NEW! "Chasing History" Sneak Peek
Michael’s vibrant and colorful style really brings the cars and surroundings to life, whether it is a field full of long forgotten Mopars or a pair of street racers mixing it up. Michael received his first art scholarship in Grade 2 and from this early interest it was natural for him to gravitate toward a career in art. With a strong focus on commercial illustration, he graduated from the Graphic Design program at Grant MacEwan College in Edmonton, Alberta. His use of watercolor, together with his background in architectural illustration, his incredible talent, and his love of classic cars, have proven instrumental in developing Michael's passion for automotive art. And in case you are wondering if Michael is a real “gearhead,” just ask him about the 1967 Mustang GTA convertible he has in his garage! To learn more about Michael’s art, check out his website; http://www.michaelirvine.com/
Original paintings, limited edition automotive fine art prints and giclées, artist proofs with custom remarque and gallery edition canvases are available through the website and of course, will be available at our show.
Being named as the MCACN Featured Artist makes you a member of an elite group. In our inaugural year, David Snyder was our featured artist. In 2010, we proudly honored Dan McCrary, in 2011 we featured Steven Macy and last year, Mary Watt-Yeadon took the honors. Each of these artists are unique and worthy of the accolades and attention, and we are proud to be able to offer a great place for them to show their talents and offer their works of art. And what better gift for your favorite car nut then some beautiful automotive art! Be sure to take some time to view all of the art from our artists, and plan on taking home some of their fine work.
While we are on the subject of being an international event, we want to tell you about some outstanding coverage we recently received from our good friends from Quebec at V8 Passion magazine. I met publisher Fabrice Monceaux a few years ago in Toronto when I was showing a gorgeous Rally Green COPO 427 Camaro from the Nickey gang. We instantly hit it off, as we clearly share the same passion for all things with too much horsepower, and I extended the invite to Fabrice and his crew to join us at the MCACN show. Well...the rest as they say, is history! Each year V8 Passion has done an outstanding job for us with a full color feature of our show in their magazine. Page after page of color photos along with a cool story, (written in French!) that does a great job of capturing the event. There is no doubt that these guys “get it” and are as crazy about the cars and the people as we are. And oh, if you are wondering, you can bet that the beautiful and first time shown silver ‘66 Hemi Satellite and the spot-on Motion Vega Tribute that were in our show last year are in the coverage! To see this feature, go to our media page; http://www.mcacn.com/Media.htm and while you’re there, scroll through to see past V8 Passion features, and all of the other national magazine features that we know of, dating back to 2009. Also, check out the V8 Passion website and while you’re there, sign up for a subscription, you’ll be glad you did!
Later this week we head over to the Autobahn in Joliet, Illinois for the 1st Annual SAAC Shelby Meet. Our friend and long time MCACN supporter Larry Ballard has made special arrangements for access to this incredible facility. If you own a Shelby automobile vintage or modern, (or Shelby Tribute) you are invited to participate. This event IS open to the public, so c’mon out and have some fun with us. For more information, Click Here or call Larry Ballard at 630-643-8082.
Happy and Safe Cruising to You!
