MCACN 2014 “Color My World” Invitational Display
60’s and 70’s SAW INCREDIBLE COLORS IN THE MUSCLE AND CORVETTE WORLD; MCACN CELEBRATES WITH COLOR MY WORLD SPECIAL DISPLAY
One of the neatest aspects of putting the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show together each year is seeing our Special and Invitational displays come together. Using what I call my “Hit List” the MCACN team compares notes and comes up with the first round of potential cars and owners. From there, Invites are extended and the word is put out to explain what the Special Displays will be, and what we are looking for. Each year we bring in some totally new displays to keep things fresh and interesting, and we bring some back, as they are always a hit. This year, one of the most exciting displays we have ever done is coming together in a BIG way.
The “Color My World” display started with a Mopar specific theme, but after a talk with AMC enthusiast/owner Jeff Filz, who happens to own one of the finest 1970 Big-Bad-Orange Mark Donahue Javelins ever seen, the idea of expanding to other makes was explored. In fact, Jeff can also be credited with the name “Color My World” as he had recently attended a Chicago concert and the idea of applying this to the MCACN show popped into his head. And that is how the 2014 “Color My World” display came to be!
This very special gathering will showcase not only the vibrant, often “mod” colors of the late 60’s and early 70’s, but also unusual color combinations that really make you take a second look. An example of that is the 1969 Daytona Yellow COPO 427 Camaro featured in an earlier e-blast that is joining us from California. Now a ‘69 Daytona Yellow 427 COPO Camaro, although super rare and desirable in any form, may not be all that unusual, imagine seeing one with a Yellow Hound's-tooth interior. Now that is a truly eye popping combination!

So, what do we have in store for you? How about a pair of Curious Yellow ‘71 ‘Cudas with black billboards, (one is a hardtop, the other a convertible!), Rally Green and Hugger Orange 1969 427 Yenko Camaro’s, an unrestored original Curious Yellow ‘71 GTX, the Moulin Rouge (aka Panther Pink) ‘70 ‘Cuda with a (get this) factory Pink stripe that you see above, an In Violet (aka Plum Crazy) AAR ‘Cuda with a White interior that is being restored as we speak, a 426 Hemi Limelight (aka Sublime) Superbird that is an incredible unrestored low mile original, and of course, Jeff’s Big-Bad Orange Mark Donahue Javelin along with Roger Nelsons outstanding Mark Donahue Javelin in Big-Bad-Blue!
Yes...so far we have an obvious Mopar bias, (as expected) but we are putting out the call to owners of ALL MAKES of cool colored Muscle Cars and Corvettes. Of course, there are several “must have” colors we are seeking, but what will really make this display pop is the unexpected and truly off the wall colors and combinations. We know they are out there, so if you own a truly unusual combination or one of the popular hot color high horsepower machines, please consider joining us. A few of the “must haves” we are seeking; Orbit Orange and Carousel Red GTO’s, a Saturn Yellow Buick GSX, Grabber/Competition color Fords and Mercury’s, a Big Bad Green AMC product and of course, more wild Mopars, especially Petty/Basin Street Blue and Green Go/Sassy Grass. Let us know what you have; if it is a real-deal factory built vibrant color or just something that makes you shake your head, (even if it is kinda ugly!) we’d love to hear about it. E-mail email@example.com for consideration.
