MCACN SPONSOR BOB ADAMS OF MUSCLE CAR DESIGNS LAUNCHES DAY 2 PARTS OUTLET
Last weekend we had the chance to sit down with MCACN sponsor and long time supporter Bob Adams, proprietor of Muscle Car Designs in Joliet. In addition to checking out several cars that Bob and his crew are working on, (‘70 GTO Judge, several GS Stage 1 Buick convertibles and more!) he gave us the inside scoop on something he has been working on for quite some time; Day 2 Speed Shop .com
Bob has been recognized as an authority on Day2 cars and parts for a long time. To quote Arvid Svendsen of Muscle Car Review magazine; “Adams is the Chicagoland day-two expert and has a wealth of knowledge on muscle cars and the culture of aftermarket modifications from back in the day.” Fact is, Bob was buying cool aftermarket parts for his own cars “back in the day” and has spent a lot of time figuring out what works and what doesn’t. You may have witnessed some of Bob’s expertise at the show last year, as
Muscle Car Designs unveiled the incredible (and very real!) 1969 Bill Thomas Nova.
This car is the epitome of Day2 and was built by Bill Thomas and his crew in California to rule the streets when it was nearly new. Restored to Day2 Concours standards exactly as it was, Bob spent countless hours researching, along with owner Dean Klein, who shared some of the history at the unveiling. For more about this car, check out the feature in the April 2012 issue of Muscle Car Review (by our good friend Arvid Svendsen) titled “One and Only” and then be sure to check out our 2011 photo galleries to see more shots of all of our unveilings. http://www.mcacn.com/gallery.htm
The Day2 Speedshop already has a variety of cool parts for your Day2 creation online. Bob will be expanding this in a big way with vintage and new performance parts, wheels, tires and a whole lot more. The best part is, if you want to talk to someone who “talks the talk”, Bob is your guy! With hands-on experience building and restoring real Day2 cars for many years, he knows who, what and where, and offers a wealth of knowledge. “I pretty much live this stuff,” Bob said, and we can personally attest to this.
Be sure to check out the new Day2 Speedshop website and check back often , as it is a “work in progress” that will see continued expansion this year. And if you are either restoring a Day2 car or looking for a shop that knows the difference to restore it for you, be sure to give Bob Adams a call at 815-521-CARS.
Day2 Concours is one of the fastest growing aspects of our show. As pioneers, we launched the very first Concours level judging standards and awards for period correct Day2 cars including Yenko’s, Nickeys, Mr. Norms, Gibb and owner modified cars that use authentic and vintage aftermarket parts from “back in the day.” Day2 Concours judging is overseen by Team Leader Dru Diesner, who personally owns and races a real 1969 Yenko 427 Super Camaro...and isn’t afraid to use it! If you own a real Day2 car, whether dealer-built or owner built, we would love to have you join us.
The Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals is the world’s largest all-indoor specialty show devoted to the absolute finest and rarest Muscle Cars, Dealer-built Supercars and Corvettes. The show will feature over 500 cars, a wide variety of automotive vendors and restorers and two area’s for selling your collector car. The show will take place November 17-18, 2012 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, (greater Chicago), Illinois. Applications are now being accepted for cars, automotive related vendors, and new this year; Muscle Bikes. www.mcacn.com
