Pleased to Announce Our Newest Official Sponsor, Artist Dana Forrester
I often speak of the importance of sponsorship and also how neat it is to be able to work with the real “movers and shakers” of our hobby as “Official Sponsors” for the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show, November 22-23. Well, this week I am very pleased to to announce that nationally recognized automotive artist Dana Forrester has signed on as our newest Official Sponsor. Actually, chances are you don’t need to be introduced to Dana, as he has been around for quite some time. Back in the mid 70’s Dana introduced his unique brick wall series, which focuses on the weathered and layered advertising art over brick walls that many of us remember. This unique format was quickly recognized and Dana was awarded many regional and national awards. He was soon elected as a Signature Member of the American Watercolor Society and also the National Watercolor Society in the early eighties. He then made the move to becoming a full time artist in 1987, and the rest, as they say, is history!
Dana is very involved in our hobby in many ways. In addition to owning some notable Corvettes over the years and being an NCRS Officer, he also had a Limited Edition Corvette produced as a signature series offered through Chevrolet dealers in 2003-2004. Although many may think of Dana as a Corvette artist due to the many Corvette specific pieces of all generations he has produced over the years, his portfolio is actually very diversified. You will find some fine Muscle Mopars, Cobra’s and Mustangs, Sox & Martin, Baldwin-Motion and Yenko pieces and even an occasional MG or Porsche. When I last reviewed Dana’s display, I found quite a few MCACN alumnus in there, including a particular red Hemi ‘Cuda convertible and several Yenko’s that certainly look familiar! To learn more about Dana Forrester Art and to get an advance look at what he will be offering at the MCACN show, go towww.danaforresterart.com
And while you’re there, check out one of his latest offerings, titled “The Resurrection” which chronicles the recovery of the Blue Devil ZR1 from the recent Corvette Museum sinkhole incident.
Remember, automotive art makes an outstanding gift for your favorite car freak, and what could be better than a signed limited edition print or perhaps one of the original pieces that are available. Our thanks go out to Dana Forrester for joining us and remember...please support those who support what we do!
HOTEL UPDATE;Although it may seem like November is a long way off, it is certainly not too early to reserve your rooms now for the MCACN show, (especially if you want to be in the middle of all the action at The DoubleTree O’Hare.) We have FOUR Official Host Hotels, all offering very special rates for MCACN participants AND spectators along with special perks and reduced rate parking. To get the full scoop on all four hotels and direct links to reserve your rooms now, go to http://www.mcacn.com/hotels.htm
MEDIA COVERAGE;National, and even International media coverage continues for the MCACN show. This past week we received the new issues of THREE MORE magazines with awesome coverage of our 2014 show inside. Camaro Performers and Smoke Signals both feature some really great photos and coverage. And in keeping with our truly International theme, V8 Passion out of Quebec again gave us some outstanding coverage. Thanks go out to Goeff Stunkard and the Camaro Performers crew, Don Keefe and all of our friends from POCI for covering us in your awesome magazine and our great friends Fabrice Monceaux and Kiki D. Bois at V8 Passion for your continued support and coverage. (BTW; if you are not familiar with this outstanding publication, go to www.v8passion.com
Doing coverage at an indoor event is not easy, so when you see the guys and girls at our show with the Media badges around their necks, be sure to say Thanks for joining us! I can honestly say I have never seen any car event outside of the SEMA show that has received as much recognition and coverage as the MCACN show, and the count for feature cars that were discovered at our show continues to grow. In fact, several of our Editors and Photographers are already lining up feature shoots for the 2014 show, so if you plan on joining us and haven’t officially applied, now is the time. I get requests for certain vehicles each year and I am very active in working with the Editors and Photographers in matching cars to the magazines that have them on their own “hit list”. I can also let you in on another “secret” about the MCACN show; again the real “movers and shakers” from the magazines join us each year and our Media list continues to grow with many flying in from across the country, and as you can see...even outside of the country! To see national coverage since our inception, check out our Media page; http://www.mcacn.com/Media.htm
