MCACN SHINING STAR AWARDS ACKNOWLEDGE UNDER 25 YEAR OLD PARTICIPANTS
We are pleased to announce our good friends Dominic Rossi and Staci Walters-Rossi of ProArc have again stepped up to sponsor our Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals Shining Star awards for 2013. These very special awards are presented to outstanding participants who have a car entered in our show and are “hands-on” owners under the age of 25. To be eligible for these awards, the owner must show proof in advance that they are named on the title, and they must show a valid form of identification showing their date of birth. We would like to see this expand as much as possible, as the next generation represents the future not only of our show, but our hobby!
Dominic and Staci and ProArc not only sponsor these awards, they are also active participants in the show every year. In 2012, Dominic showed his freshly restored red 1961 Corvette, earning Gold Concours honors, while Staci showed her very own 1963 split window coupe, earning a coveted Corvette Central Triple Diamond award. This was the first time Staci showed her own Corvette, as she has shown with Dominic, allowing much of the attention to go to him. But this time, she was the one grabbing the spotlight! Hopefully you caught the feature story on Staci titled “Quest for the MCACN Triple Diamond; Not Limited To Men!” in the November 2012 issue of Vette Vues magazine. I personally witnessed the work (and stress) that she put forth, and it was great to see her earn her NCRS Top Flight, Bloomington Gold and ultimately, the Triple Diamond award! Being big supporters of bringing new people and the younger crowd into our hobby, we met with Dominic and Staci at Bloomington Gold last June, and they decided it was time to help us expand the award and raise the awareness. So...if you are an under 25 year old owner/enthusiast, (or know of one), please consider joining us November 23-24, 2013 at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. Our 2012 Shining Star award winners were Joe Anglin, Jr, with a real 1969 Yenko Chevelle, Sean Herron with
a wild ‘74 Mustang II and Jordan Hook with his super sharp ‘72 Nova.

BTW; hopefully you noticed our featured car this week, which is the latest addition to the Rossi collection. Not just any ‘54 Corvette, this prime example is an unrestored original! Seeing any 53-55 is a treat, but this year at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals you will be able to see this unrestored original in our Vintage Certification area. Reserved strictly for unrestored originals, MCACN Member Steve Shauger and his team focus on documenting and studying all aspects of these time pieces. Our Vintage Certification area has played host to some amazing cars since our inception in 2009, including some ultra low mile cars, but never a 1954 Corvette. Make it a point to view this one in person and say THANKS to Dominic and Staci and the ProArc crew for sponsoring our Shining Star awards. For more information on our Vintage Certification.
For the Mopar fans, the place to be this weekend is the Indianapolis State Fairgrounds, where the big Chrysler Performance Trade Show and Swap Meet is taking place. Our friend Josh King of the Monster Mopar team is stepping things up for this one, which is one of the fastest growing Mopar events around, and he told me they are sold out with over 200 vendors coming in from across the country. MCACN sponsor The Finer Details will be there, so ask Ken and his crew about the ‘71 Super Bee and the other cars they are working on for MCACN 2013. Ryan Brutt, the Automotive Archeologist and host of our Barn Finds/Hidden Gems display will be there as will Rob Wolf and Tim Costello from Mopar Collectors Guide magazine. And YES; the Barn Finds/Hidden Gems display will be returning for 2013, with a whole new group of vehicles, so if you have a suitable car, dig it out and share it at MCACN 2013!
HOTEL UPDATE; We now have direct links for all four of our Official Host Hotels on our website. The DoubleTree O’Hare serves as party central, and is offering a rate of $102.00 per night with $8.00 daily parking. This is where our Friday night kick-off party is held, so if you want to be in the middle of all the action, book your room there now. The Embassy Suites O’Hare is a bit quieter and they include a fantastic full made to order breakfast. The rate there is $119 per night and they also offer $8.00 daily parking. If you want to keep your costs down, the Crowne Plaza O’Hare has a great rate of $92 and they have the big flat outside lot with daily parking at $10.00. All three of these hotels are directly across the street from the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center. But wait...we have another! The cool and upbeat aLoft Hotel, one of the newest in the area, has also stepped up, offering a rate of $112.00 with $10.00 daily parking and a free door to door shuttle that drops you off right at the lobby of the convention center. Last year we filled a whole lot of rooms, so book now to be in the middle of the action, with no need to ever drive anywhere once you settle in! You must mention the show to get these rates and the perks, or easier yet, go to our website and use the individual direct links made just for us. These offers are available to all of our participants and spectators alike.
BLOOMINGTON GOLD REGISTRATION NOW OPEN; Registration is now open for the big Bloomington Gold show for both cars and vendors. New owner and long time MCACN supporter Guy Larsen has lots in store for the show, including the move to Champaign, Illinois to the beautiful campus of the University of Illinois. We are expecting expansion of our Corvette Central Triple Diamond display and competition, and as you know, Bloomington Gold certification is one of our requirements, so sign up now and be a part of some Corvette History in the making. www.bloomingtongold.com
MCACN FACEBOOK PAGE; Thanks to all of you who are helping us spread the word through our facebook page. I post something about the show nearly every day and we really enjoy the direct interaction. As of today, we have surpassed 31,500 “likes” and it grows each and every day. Be sure to make a habit of checking it out to stay in the loop, as we always have something to tell you about, and please tell your friends, relatives and even your enemies to “like” us.
Well...if you are like me and here among the cold and snow, spring can’t come soon enough. If you are someplace warm and sunny, you are smarter than me and I am jealous! Let’s start making plans for all of the great shows, cruises and other events for 2013 and let’s also share our passion with some of the younger people; the future of our hobby depends on it!
