2013 WAS A BANNER YEAR FOR THE MUSCLE CAR AND CORVETTE NATIONALS!
For some, 2013 was a rocky year. For me, both personally and professionally, it was a fantastic year. Yes...I know my job is a bit unlike most, but the facts are the facts. Vicki and I welcomed to the world two new Grandbabies, traveled thousands of miles, were able to spend time with old friends, and we made lots of new friends along the way. Of course, if you were at the MCACN show this year, you already know this was a great year for us. If you weren’t...well you missed an incredible event! Celebrating our 5th year was indeed a milestone for us, and we are already diving into planning for our 2014 event. We will be returning to the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in beautiful Rosemont, (suburban Chicago), Illinois, November 22-23, 2014. This is again the weekend before Thanksgiving, so please put the big circle around those dates on your new calendars now!
We would like to express our sincere appreciation to everyone who has been on board supporting what we do, whether since we started or this year for the first time. We know that our show is like no other, and many had their doubts, but as you can clearly see, we’re here to stay and indeed, it just keeps getting better! I could not continue without taking a moment to thank all of our fantastic sponsors, many who have been with us since our inception. We strive to build long term mutually beneficial relationships, and we truly appreciate their continued support and participation. And then of course are our participants. When we launched in 2009, some came around from other shows and many came on who had never shown in the Chicago area before. Others “rolled the dice” and found out it is indeed possible to host a show that is devoted to the country’s finest and rarest Muscle Cars, Dealer–built Supercars and Corvettes, and those who have businesses that cater to them. Yes...we have made quite a few changes since our inception and you can bet that there will be more. You can also count on the fact that we continue to be 100% committed to maintaining our reputation as the “must do/must see” national event. Whether you participate by showing your car, offering your services or products or you come to step back in time to see what some have called a “rolling museum” of fine American Muscle and the Pebble Beach of the Muscle Car world. Strong statements? Indeed, but statements we plan on living up to! Special thanks also go out to our many media friends, who really get it, and continue to help us in getting the word out there.
So with the new year upon us, I thought it would be a great time to get the ball rolling and let you know about some of what we have in store for our 6th Annual Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show. First off, we will be celebrating two great Anniversaries with our Class of ‘64 and our Class of 1969 Invitational displays. With the birth of the Hemi in ‘64, you can count on a race influenced display again this year. We have already lined up some very significant drag cars, (yep...several ultra-rare Hemi’s are among them) and the 1969 model year needs no introduction. Being the past owner of several 69’s, I certainly could go on and on, but we’ll save that for later. And speaking of significant anniversaries, we will be hosting a very special group of what many consider the first Muscle Car, the Pontiac GTO. Featuring two prime examples of each year from 1964-1974, you will also see some additional special GTO’s, some of which you may have forgotten about! Special guests will play a significant role in these special Anniversary displays for 2014 too.

And then we have our “Color My World” Invitational display. Starting with the obvious, you will see some very cool wild color Mopars and of course, examples of Big Bad Blue (see above), Big Bad Green and Big Bad Orange AMC’s. But don’t for a minute think that we are forgetting GM, (Hugger Orange, Saturn Yellow, Orbit Orange certainly come to mind) and of course our blue oval friends, where Grabber Blue, Competition Yellow and even Anti-Establish-Mint Green come to mind! If you own a car that fits into one of these special categories, especially if it has rarely or never been shown in the Chicagoland area, please let me know. We are looking for the best of the best and the rarest of the rare, and cars that have great history. Sorry...no “tributes” or “clones” for these special displays! If you own one or would like to nominate one, please send photos, documentation and info to me directly at firstname.lastname@example.org
This is just a sampling of what we have in the works. Some of our most popular features, like the Barn Finds/Hidden Gems and the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Race displays will be returning with a new batch of cool cars, and as always, we welcome your idea’s and feedback. If you would be interested in coordinating a special display, (as in take the lead, find the best, gather up the troops etc etc) please let me know. I always welcome assistance and in many cases, your endorsement and involvement will allow us to reach the next level!

The new year brings new opportunities. We will be sending our current vendors early registration information within the next few weeks. We would also like to talk to quality automotive related vendors and suppliers interested in joining us at the show or about sponsorship opportunities. Our sponsor packages are custom made to work for you and your business, and if we are a good match, we would love to show you what we can do for you. We work to promote our sponsors all year long, not just at the show, and it is our goal to maintain long term sponsorships that are mutually beneficial.
Yes, 2013 was a great year for me and for the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals. With that being said, I am sure that 2014 will be yet another year that will allow us to “raise the bar” to a level yet unseen.
Thanks for your continued support and here is to a Happy, Safe and Prosperous New Year for you, your family and your friends!
