Sneak Peek 2013 Show*
Dale Kengott 1969 Chevrolet Camaro Z28 2013 MCACN Show Registrant** SOME GREAT MCACN ALUMNUS HIT
THE AUCTION BLOCKS!
If you are a Car Guy (or Car Girl), you
have to be excited about the January auctions. Whether you are headed to
Arizona for any of the variety of auctions out there, or heading south to
Florida to see the thousands of cars that 2012 MCACN Title
Sponsor Dana Mecum and his team will be offering, there is no
doubt that it is likely to be out there for you. If you are lucky, you will
first fly west, then fly south, hopefully with a whole lot of cash! If you
aren’t necessarily a buyer, that’s fine, because all of the auctions are a
blast to attend and lots of fun to watch on TV too.
I will be heading west, where the week
will be filled with auction action and plenty of meetings. I also am
fortunate to be meeting with several collectors to lock in some outstanding
features for our 2013 show, (including an incredible unveiling...more on
that later) which will be taking place November 23-24, at the Donald
E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, (greater Chicago), Illinois.
Several of the MCACN Members will be in Arizona and several will also be
heading to Florida, so we will be representing!
I thought it would be neat to let you
know about some very significant Chevy’s and Corvettes that
have been participants in past MCACN shows that will be
crossing the block. Several of these cars are truly one time
opportunities and several are the best of the best. First, we
have a pair of very special 1969 Camaro’s. First up is the
LeMans Blue #14 427 ZL1 that was a show stopper for us in
2010 in our ZL1 Reunion display. This 4-speed beauty has
all kinds of documentation and known history, truly one of the best. If you
prefer a real-deal Yenko, then check out the beautiful
Daytona Yellow sYc 427 Super Camaro that was part of our
Don Yenko Meet the Mean Ones in Chicago display in
2012.. This one is very special as it is a Jack Douglas sold Yenko,
again with known history and lots of paperwork. BTW; if you prefer a
modified ‘69 Camaro, Stefano Bimbi of Nickey
Chicago has a one-off Chip Foose built
pro touring ‘69 that will blow you away being offered Saturday night in
Arizona.
If you are looking for a
Corvette for your collection, I want to tell you about two very
special red beauties. First we have a 1962 being offered by
our friend Dave Brewer from Florida. Those of you who know
Dave, a long time supporter of our shows, know he always has outstanding
automobiles and this one is no exception. Awarded the coveted
Corvette Central Triple Diamond award at our show last
November, this is the one! 4-speed, fuel injected, wide factory steel
wheels...whew! See this one on the block Saturday in Arizona, If it
is a C2 you want, it doesn’t get any better than a
427 powered red roadster! Well....actually it can, if it was
originally owned by Apollo astronaut Gus Grissom. You may
remember this one from our inaugural show, where it was on display right on
the lobby. MCACN Member Bill Sefton is offering this one
over in Arizona along with several other fine cars from his extensive
collection. Indeed, this may be the only time this piece of history is
offered for sale!
Perhaps you are thinking about a race
car, maybe even something nobody else has. Well, how about the Nova
on a Sunday? Yep, this is the “body in white” car that was
purchased brand new in IL. by Rich and Cindy Vitiritti back
in the day, that you saw at MCACN in 2009 and 2010. Rich
and Cindy are the original owners are they are offering this historical
racer for sale , again...a once in a lifetime opportunity! But
wait...we have another! Our very good friend Floyd Garrett
will be offering several of his prime muscle machines ; a
beautiful Cranberry red ‘70 LS6 Chevelle, a ‘67 GTO and what may well be the
finest 1962 409 Chevy on the market.
Yep...this is the absolutely gorgeous red 409 Bel Air you
saw in our “Class of ‘62” Invitational display
last November. Everyone knows that Floyd has been in this hobby for a long
time, and he knows his cars and parts. If you have ever dreamed of owning an
authentic ‘62 409 car, you need to jump on this one! Floyd is also offering
a 427 ZL1 engine (on a stand) that was on display in his
museum. Whew...what an opportunity!
There are plenty more! Over in Kissimmee, Florida starting on the 18th
for ten full days, the Mecum Auction team will be
offering an astounding 3,000+ collector cars. This is nothing short of
incredible. Imagine combining ALL of the big auctions in AZ into one BIG
auction and that is what you’ll find in Kissimmee. If it isn’t there, you
aren’t likely to find it. Muscle Cars, classics, Corvettes, micro cars,
sports cars, exotics, boats, motorcycles, and lots of “road art” will be
offered by our 2012 Title Sponsor. You don’t want to miss this one!
So there you have it...whether you
are traveling to the auctions or watching on television, the next few weeks
promise some great times for us car freaks. Take some time to share our
hobby with your friends and family and have some fun.
