THE FINER DETAILS GEARS UP FOR ANOTHER GREAT YEAR AT MCACN
We have some of the country’s finest specialty restoration shops as Official Sponsors at the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals show, November 23-24. American Muscle Car Restoration, Inc. will be joining us from Rhode Island while new sponsor Apex Motorsports joins us from Wisconsin. Both of these shops are well known for their national award winning Mopars, but be assured they both also work on other makes! We will be talking about what they are up to in the coming weeks.
This week, we want to tell you about what has been going on out in Danville, Indiana. Ken Mosier and his team at The Finer Details have had a hell of a year. The 1969 Trans Am convertible from The Brothers Collection that you saw at MCACN last year in progress was featured in Muscle Car Review, (shot by Arvid Svendsen) AND Hemmings Muscle Machines, (shot by Gary Gerstner). This is just a few of the numerous national magazine features they scored this year. Of course, the gorgeous B5 Blue AAR ‘Cuda that was in their display last year was also a featured cover car, with one of our lovely MCACN cover girl winners gracing the cover of the March 2013 issue of Mopar Collectors Guide, shot by MCACN Official Photographer, Al Rogers/Freeze Frame Image, LLC! And that’s not all, another one of our cover girl contest winner features shot at MCACN was yet another build from The Finer Details. Yep, that gorgeous brown ‘71 Hemi Charger, owned by MCACN Sponsor, Tim Wellborn of the Wellborn Muscle Car Museum, graced another MCG cover and full feature, shot by Al Rogers right at our show.
So what are Ken and his crew up to for MCACN V? Well slide that chair up to the screen and let me tell you! In their own display this year, you’ll find a freshly restored Red 1970 ‘Cuda, a Challenger T/A and an amazing B5-blue 1969 Hemi Charger 500. But wait....that’s not all! Over in the Mr. Norm’s 50th Anniversary display, look for another 1969 Charger 500, recently found after years of being stashed away, in full Mr. Norm’s modified Day 2 trim, yet another Challenger T/A and Ken’s own 2013 50th Anniversary Challenger S/RT. Whew...what a lineup! Ken always brings some prime stuff to the show, and 2013 is no exception, as he shares our passion to “raise the bar” each year. With that being said, if you are interested in seeing what Ken and his crew can do for you, make a point of talking to him at the show. Their full service facility can do darn near anything from under-hood detailing to full award winning rotisserie restorations. See what they mean when they say “It doesn’t cost more to do it right.” And speaking of their facility...The Finer Details is currently in the process of moving in to a brand new home. You see, Ken managed to get a hold of what used to be a Pontiac dealership, and yep...that is their new home! With everything under one roof and a beautiful showroom, you will see a truly state of the art facility. And one of the neatest parts is the showroom, packed full of cool automobilia and of course, great cars. In addition to their restoration work, they will also have a variety of collector cars offered for sale onsite. Whew...these guys really are stepping up their game! To learn more about The Finer Details, be sure to spend some time with Ken and the crew at our show, November 23-24, and say THANKS to them for their continued support of the MCACN show.
MAGAZINE FEATURES; AN UPDATE; Let’s face it, awards are great, and we all like to be acknowledged for our work, but is there anything cooler than being featured in a national magazine? For me, having my lowly AMC featured in Hot Rod magazine was a high point in my life! So, how does this apply to MCACN? Well, I am truly honored to say we have some of the real “movers and shakers” of our favorite magazines joining us. Among them are Drew Hardin, Editor of Muscle Car Review, Rob Wolf, publisher of Mopar Collectors Guide, Geoff Stunkard, Arvid Svendsen, David Newhart, John Gunnell, Diego Rosenberg, Gary Gerstner, Tim Costello, Ryan Brutt, Cliff Gromer , Kevin Osete and of course, the guy who may just be the hardest working automotive photographer out there and our Official Photographer, Al Rogers. (just ask Al how many miles he has travelled this year doing shoots for Collectible Automobile, Mopar Collectors Guide, Mustang Monthly, Old Cars Weekly, Canadian Hot Rod, Old Skool Rodz, Car Culture Deluxe and many others!) This is like a “who’s who” of the most respected guys in the industry, and there are more....If you have dreamed of having your car featured in a national magazine, or even on the cover, MCACN is the place to be. Features will be shot right at the show, both inside in Al Rogers onsite studio up front, and also outside in several area’s these guys have scoped out. Last year full features were shot and published for many cars, and this year there will be even more! These guys are coming in to work, and they know that there will be countless cars worthy of national attention, so don’t be surprised if YOU are asked to be shot for a feature. CAR ENTRIES/VENDOR SPACE/CAR CORRAL; All aspects of the show are now full, (sold-out). If you are interested in being on our “stand-by” list, please e-mail your information and if it is a car, send clear photos. If we get any cancellations, we will pull the absolute coolest cars from the stand-by list to fill any openings that may arise. Due to the volume of calls, we are unable to respond to phone requests and consideration will be given only to those who send us pictures and information. With over 500 cars and over 200 vendor spots filled to capacity, we are buried in work to properly process the entries and get the appropriate paperwork out to our participants. As much as I love to talk about cars, we are quite honestly swamped this time of the year and Vicki and I have a ton of work to do to prepare for the show. Thanks for your consideration and be assured, we are hard at work to make sure that our 5th Anniversary MCACN show is our best show to date. We want to make sure that all of our participants, whether you are a sponsor, showing a car or offering automotive goods or services, get the absolute best service from all of our team.
MCACN TEAM MEMBERS; Just a quick Thanks to all of our team members that were able to make the local staff meeting at Nickey headquarters last Saturday. We really appreciate that you ladies and gentlemen are willing to take time out of your weekend to share idea’s and spend a few hours listening to me gloat about the upcoming show. We had the largest turnout ever, and I can honestly say, the excitement level is the highest I have ever seen from our staff, our participants and our spectators! This is clearly going to be an incredible year for the Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals.
That’s it for now...back to my “work room” to get the last few move-in times for Vicki, work on the sign order, confirm the shipments, finalize the awards, go over the decorating and electric orders, make sure the labor is all set, work on security assignments, and well....you get the idea!
Please remember to tell a friend about our show and if you would like a chance to win free tickets or a really neat prize package that includes a night at the DoubleTree O’Hare and more, go to our facebook page, “like” us and then enter the contest by clicking the tab at the top right.
