NO MATTER WHAT BRAND YOU LIKE,
MCACN INVITATIONAL DISPLAYS WILL BLOW YOU AWAY!
As I finalize the MCACN floor plan layout, I am absolutely blown away by the quality and diversity this year. The content of the entire show truly “raises the bar” but something that really blows me away are the Invitational displays this year. Each and every one has incredible content and a long list of cars that have never been shown in the Chicagoland area. When you combine these very special gatherings with the variety of fine vendors and resto shops, the unveilings, the special feature cars and all of the others, I can personally assure you that you will be spending many hours walking the aisles of the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center in Rosemont, (greater Chicago), Illinois, November 23-24! I recommend you wear some comfortable shoes...
When you arrive, you’ll see some very unexpected vehicles right in the main lobby, and here’s a hint; not all of them are cars! And speaking of the cars, have you ever heard of a Meisenhelder? Better research that one, ‘cuz this may be the only chance you get to see one up close and personal, thanks to Stahl’s Automotive Foundation! So, when you finish drooling over the cars in the lobby, you will be greeted by a VERY special 427 Cobra, #3002 from the collection of Richard and Pam Ellis, and a truly one-off Oldsmobile 442, aka "The Four-A-Nado" coming in from Arizona that will be unveiled at 10:00 am Saturday morning after an extensive restoration. We have had some pretty amazing displays over the past four years, but the owners of both of these vehicles are taking it to an entirely new level! I won’t let the cat out of the bag, but suffice it to say, both of these cars, and the displays surrounding them will be worth the price of admission alone, and we’re just getting started!
Let me tell you about a few of our special displays this year. Our Plymouth Roadrunner Invitational, with the finest and rarest examples of 1968-1972 ‘Runners, including original unrestored and restored to better than new, along with a really neat collection of memorabilia from the Dozeman Collection. And if that isn’t enough, just wait until you see Bill Waara’s time machine 1972! Our Original Owners display will feature seventeen cars from 1962-1973, and will include the unveiling of a gorgeous 340 Duster, fresh from a full resto. So...you are a Corvette fan? Well then, let me tell you about our 1967 Corvette L/88 gathering. Yep...I said ‘67, the year many consider as the ultimate collectible production year for the Corvette. With only a handful of L/88’s built, I am proud to say we are on track to have the largest group of 1967 L/88’s ever assembled under one roof, and yet another Premier Unveiling, with a beautiful silver roadster being shown for the very first time from the Perham Collection out of California. And if you like ‘68 and ‘69 L/88’s...be ready, as the Perham’s will also be showing their matching silver 68 and 69 L/88 roadsters.
So you are a Ford fan? Well let me tell you about our first dedicated Ford Performance display. Boss 429’s; check! Cobra Jet 428 Mercury Cyclone’s; check! Big-Body muscle; check! A/FX Comet; you bet! Pro Stock Mustang; yeperoo! Drag Pack Shelby GT-500; check! And let’s add one of the earliest K-code Mustangs and an early Shelby GT-350 to the mix along with a 428 Ranchero. And did I mention our special guest Barrie Poole, aka The Border Bandit, will be on hand, right between a pair of his Mercury’s? Count on it! But wait...it gets even better! We will also have an absolutely staggering collection of Ford Performance and Shelby American parts and memorabilia in the mix. And then there is the Shelby Snakepit, hosted by Colin Comer; expect to see some of the coolest examples of Carroll’s finest along with even more Cobra’s! (and yes...these are all real Cobra’s, as in 60’s vintage, not kit cars or continuations).
Are you an Oldsmobile fan? Well then, be ready to see an amazing group of real-deal documented W-Machines of various years. We have been working with Gary Riley out in Colorado, and he has helped us round up a stellar lineup. In keeping with MCACN tradition, we have assembled what must be the largest gathering of W-30 convertibles in this one, along with hardtops and coupes. And of course, we will be announcing the winner of the Great American Muscle Car Giveaway Saturday night right at our show, a beautiful and very real 1970 Olds Rally 350, thanks to Jeff and JoHanna Stolowski. (And here’s a peak into MCACN 2014; the Great American Muscle Car Giveaway returns, and we will be unveiling next years car, which is being restored as we speak by Thornton Muscle Car Restorations in Pennsylvania. Can you guess what it is?)
So in the interest of keeping this brief, (cough-cough) this is just a sampling of what we have in store for the MCACN show this year. Additional special displays include our Class of ‘63 and Class of 1973 Anniversary displays, the return of Motion Madness, our Barn Finds/Hidden Gems, our Vintage Certification Presented by Frank Badalson's American Performance, LLC, our Carlisle Events Camaro Z/28 Invitational, our first Annual Pure Stock Muscle Car Drags display, The Wellborn Muscle Car Museum Final Word display, AMC/Ya, Mopar Alley, and the 50th Anniversary Mr. Norm’s Celebration display and of course, our big Corvette Central Triple Diamond display and competition. We’ll tell you more about these displays in the coming weeks.
